Sorry!

Hey guys! Sorry for the late update. Thing is, my camera is currently broken, it got wet from the beach. Hopefully it's just the battery that's broken. I will try to buy a new one tomorrow or something. Anyway, the project is going fine, Chelsea and I are currently sitting in a warm and stuffy internet cafe writing to you at this moment.

If not, I have taken some pictures on my mobile that I could upload onto the blog. But that's a whole hassle since I need to email the pics to my email address and then from there upload it from an internet cafe..

Anywaaaay, we're putting in sand into the ditches right now in order to protect the pipes, and then finally covering it with the dirt that was there before. We should be done by that tomorrow. Then we will have to wait for an approval from the town council in order to access the town's local water pipes. The water stations are looking amazing so far, and basically the only things that are needed to be done is to put in the faucets and then purchase cement tiles for the ground surrounding the stations so that the water doesn't erode the ground too much.

Keep checking out our blog, and we apologize once again for the long delay! ;)

Hey guys! We have TWO updates this time! Wooohoo! Anyway, here comes the fun pictures!

So cute, one of our students gave me this Christmas card. :)

I seriously have lost weight lol.

Here's part of the building site where one of the water stations will be placed.

The hole for the piping system. I'm quite artistic like that.

Receipts

Hey guys! We thought we would give you a quick update with what has happened so far.

We are basically done with the digging, which was the larger part of the practical part of our project here in Sri Lanka. We will be posting the receipts for the costs of the materials needed to build the water system.

Day 1!

Hey guys, guess what, we've finally started with the building process. We managed to dig quite a lot of the outlining for the water stations and piping systems. It was really rough though, and our backs will probably hurt loads tomorrow, we'll see. The mud/dirt over here isn't like the one back home in Sweden. Most of it's freaking clay!

Anyway, it has been decided that Chelsea and I will be teaching English to about 50 students in total (20 with Chelsea and 30 with me). We'll be doing that after working on the water system in the mornings.

So our schedules will be basically:
- 8am-12pm, work with water system
- 2 hour break (lunch + shower)
- 2pm-4pm, teach kids English
- Free time

Anyway, I'm sitting here in an internet cafe with Zach, we just finished bathing in the sea after working on the water stations.

Anyway, here's some music for you guys, never heard it before but I agree with the title cause of all the mosquitos! Damn them.

Heeeeellloo Hikkaduwa!

Hey guys! We just wanted to update you guys and tell you that we're safe here in Hikkaduwa, Sri Lanka. The Internet access was a bit worse than we expected, so now we have to go to an internet cafe in order to write here and update you guys!

Anyway, we will be starting to dig for the pipes on tuesday, a slight change has been made on how the water stations will look like, but the end result will be the same; the kids of G/Nalagasdeniya Jayanthi Model School will gain access to clean water thanks to all your help!

Anyway, peace out guys, we'll keep you updated soon.

Sri Lanka here we come!

We're finally off to Sri Lanka! Chelsea left early yesterday and now it's my turn to fly off to the other side of our fine planet.

It feels a bit odd to finally be going, this trip has been planned and modified several times and our project has had to go through loads of structuring and planning. I knew that we were going to fly off sooner or later, but I never expected time to fly (pun intended) this quickly! It feels like we're finally be going to see the results in front of us very soon, and those are the water stations.

Don't worry, we will be trying our best to hog free WiFi from wherever we can find it, and also perhaps buy internet time in order for you guys to be able to be kept updated with our trip!

Anyway, time for me to leave for the airport, see you guys soon!
